LISA'S LIFE

…So I poured a glass of wine to think about it.

On December 31st, 2011 my full-time position with Network Solutions will be relocated to Jacksonville, Florida — without me. It will mark one year with the company, a short but productive one. When I applied to work with NetSol it was primarily to work with Shashi Bellamkonda, a social media marvel that I admire and am honored to have worked alongside to date. We’ve blogged and tweeted around the country, meeting some of the most notable and accomplished in our industry. This year alone I’ve travelled to New York, Austin, Cupertino, Chicago, and Los Angeles to attend some of the leading conferences including SOBCon, BlogWorld, SXSW and BlogHer.

In the process I’ve created my own events media company, DCeventjunkie.com, and more recently co-founded DC Wine Week with Vanessa French and Casey Kincheloe of Pivot Point Communications. I challenged myself to improve my health and within three months of hard work and dedication dropped 25 lbs, reduced my blood pressure and high cholesterol and ran — and finished — my first Tough Mudder! That led to the creation of yet another blog, The Trainer and The Client, with my personal trainer Grant Hill of MyBootcamp. I’ve learned to step out on the ledge and take risks; that a community and network of friends and acquaintances are more valuable than a well-written resume; and that you can achieve anything you want…you just have to want it bad enough.

So here I sit at a crossroads, stunned to have the options before me that I do. The outpouring of support, job recommendations and referrals that I’ve received have been overwhelming that I’m uncertain of which road to take. This is by no means a complaint, I am truly blessed to be in this situation and thankful for the choices I have to make. But a choice has to be made nonetheless…there’s such a thing as too much time to think, I think…

Welcome to my new blog. Here I’ll talk all things tech, social, and marketing with a side of me. ‘Lisa Likes’ will cover my fave gadgets, iPhone apps and some things DC. I’ll write posts like this and recaps on industry events and conferences, perhaps some fun vacations! I just figured I needed to manage a fourth website :)

You have reached this point in your life because of your iron will, hard work, courage and sheer determination not to mention your intellegence and many talents. The road you decide to take will hardly matter because in the end you will make that road your own and leave foot prints for others to follow.....so very proud of you Lisa,
Mum

My Mam Rocks!...How do you think I got so brave!?

You are a constant inspiration. Hope your plans keep you in DC. Can't wait to find out upon whom you will bestow your considerable talents and skills!

Thanks Elizabeth! With a new beautiful adorable niece I have no choice but to choose DC :)

Congratulations Lisa, you are an inspiration and I see your dad's entrepreneurial skills have rubbed off on you. The Old Sod could do with you back home now; to help get us out of our current difficulties.
Carpe Diem!

I continue to admire and look up to you Lisa. You are amazing and I love that this gives us a peek into how your brain works. Congrats and good luck! I support you 110% and if there is anything I can do let me know! Always open to learn...and always thirsty for wine ;)

*sheds tear*...I miss the social monster posts on DCeventjunkie, I was living vicariously through you at one point! Thanks Miemo, I'll touch base next week and we'll plan dinner x

You'll be fine. You got "fight" in you. Are you Italian by any chance? ;)

That'd be the fightin' Irish ;) It's all good, Joe - the right thing at the right time.

and as I have mentioned before darling I look up to you, maybe I drink a glass myself once this flu has left my system... the change starts now =) peace <3

Ah thanks lady! Love the kind words and am continually amazed I inspire others, it's so lovely to hear :)

Good luck with everything you will be doing Lisa. New beginnings, new challenges and new opportunities!

Thanks Joe! New beginnings are inspiring!

Cheers, Lisa! So excited to see where life takes you next. I'm sure it'll be even bigger than before but in a smaller body. :) <3

Hah! Thanks Melanie, appreciate the support :)
